Sister Marie de Paul Carter, SSJ, started painting in the late 1990's while working at the West Seneca Developmental Center. She has studied painting in two studios* and continues studying and displaying her work. Primarily a hobby, Sister has sold paintings and one is currently on exhibit at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. She describes art work as "telling a story through the painting." She finds her hobby relaxing and challenging plus fun. "It's a way of appreciating God's beauty in the world he made, (and) stopping to smell the flowers and enjoying them."
She describes her painting in this way, "In my paintings, I like to show the beauty in the world, that God gave us. It's a free gift available to all. This is one area we can take responsibility for, by preserving and enjoying the beauty."
The following photographs of some of her work are not professionally made but indicate her skill in painting. The artist explains each painting beneath the picture. Contact information is explained at the bottom of this page.
