CHS CPE Program

Individual Units/Levels 1 and 2

Individual units in the Fall and Spring require the student to be available weekly for 28 hours, 9 of which comprise the group process, 18 in ministry and 1 hour in a supervisory conference. This fulfills the requirement of at least 400 hours for the student to receive credit for one unit of CPE. Fall and Spring Units run for fourteen weeks.

The summer unit is eleven weeks in duration and requires the student each week to be available for 40 hours, approximately 10-12 which comprise the group process, one hour of supervisory conference and 25-30 hours of ministry. If a student wishes, s/he may pursue several individual units. There is not continuity since the group membership changes each unit.

There are four different schedules for group meetings. In addition are the hours for ministry:

Residency/Levels 1 and 2

A resident commits to a year in the program, three units of CPE. A completed unit of CPE is required for acceptance into the residency program. In between units the resident experiences his/her ministry without the demands of the group process or weekly assignments. Time in between units allows for time to do extra reading or participate in other educational programs if desired.

The residency requires a student to be available 40 hours a week, 10 - 12 of which comprise the group process and 28-30 hours the ministry component. The group membership is stable through the three units, unless a student withdraws and a replacement is accepted. During the time between units the student maintains his/her ministry schedule.

Supervisory Level

The Supervisor-in-Training Program consists of two years of training divided into three phases. The program incorporates the schedule of the Eastern Region of ACPE, which provides two regional supervisor-in-training workshops annually. Schedule for supervisory education will be set according to the schedules of trainees and will be determined upon acceptance of students.
