Settings for CPE
There are two different settings in which the Catholic Health System conducts units of CPE:
Community-Based-Urban
Health-Care Based
The distinction is based on the setting in which most of the peer group ministers. The Community-Based Group meets in a Friary in the inner city. Students in this group do their ministry in community-based entities such as soup kitchens, shelters, group homes, prisons, refugee resettlement programs and parishes. Students in the healthcare-based program do their ministry in hospitals, nursing homes, residences for persons living with AIDS and homes of patients.
The group process for both programs is the same. Components of the process can be found on a separate page entitled components.
Apart from the group process, students are able to arrange the times for their ministry according to their schedules and availability of persons they are serving.
