You began at the "moment of conception".

That's the instant that

"your DNA" was first put together!

Your DNA was different from that of your brother or sister. It was different from any other person on earth. It was never seen before in the entire history of the planet.

At that instant you came to be!

Created means "coming to be".

That's when you were created!
At no other point in your existence can that be said.

That's when YOU became the person YOU are.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were borne I sanctified you;..."

Jeremiah 1:5

Here's how it all happened...

There are two ways cells reproduce.

They are called "Mitosis" and "Meiosis".

Here's how ordinary cells grow and reproduce:

The DNA in the nucleus first doubles, then splits in half.

..like a droplet of water.

A single cell Cell splitting

A cell undergoing fission.

Each half of the cell then gets one set of DNA.

That's how new skin cells, new muscle cells and new bone cells are made. That's how every cell in your body reproduces.

It's how you grow. How your cells multiply.

The process is called fission or "Mitosis".

Not so with "Sex cells".

Sex cells are different from all of the other cells.

Sex cells don't split. They fuse instead.

They can't double their DNA before they fuse or there would be four strands of DNA in the resulting cell!

Click on the Sex cells to see how the problem of too much DNA was solved.

When you were a Single Cell, you did what all cells do. You began to replicate.

First you became a Double Cell then a Quad etc. But you were still a "single individual", in fact, the exact same individual you are now.

Your DNA was exactly the same in every cell. In fact, every cell was exactly the same in every way.

But, the time comes to start making some new parts.

Here's how DNA controls the process of differentiation, in order to make new and different kinds of cells, like muscles, bones, skin and hair.

When you were a single cell, the entire DNA strand was active.

When Differentiation occurs, part of the DNA strand is shut down.

Only the genes for special cell types are active.

Our particular Genetic Code is preserved intact throughout our life time.

DNA defines what part is to be made and when to make it.

DNA controls the development of our bodies at every stage along the way.

Like a finely tuned orchestra it coordinates every aspect of our being.

The "product of conception" is an "individual human life".
