Sexual Reproduction

How a "new" human person comes into the world.

Mom supplies the Egg with an "X" Chromosome.

Dad supplies the sperm with an "X" or a "Y" chromosome.

Process of fertilization

"New" DNA is produced by the fusion of one strand of "old" DNA from the mother and one strand of "old" DNA from the father.

Females have no "Y" chromosomes hence sex is totally determined by the father.

Dominant Genes replace recessive genes.

This process is called "Meiosis" or Fusion.

Cell duplication in fertilization

During conception (fertilization), the two half strands of DNA fuse together forming a completely new single strand.

This NEW strand of DNA is the unique "CODE" of a brand new person.

The egg has become a living individual human being.

Click on the egg to follow it on to the next stage of young life.
